Rotary dryers using the MOZER® system are available as single-shell units, i.e. as continuous-flow dryers, and also, because of the horizontal set-up, as two-pass or three-pass dryers. These drying plants are customised according to the existing set up of the manufacturing plant. The use of two or three pass dryers can depend on the available space conditions and the necessary residence time of the material. The use of a twin-shell dryer as dryers and coolers equipment combined in a single unit is to be recommended whenever the material to be dried has to be cooled immediately after drying. The drying then takes place only in the inner rotary tube. Depending on the industry and the existing infrastructure, an appropriate drying plant can be installed to create optimised results. The hot dried material flows from the inner rotary tube into the outer shell and is transported back by appropriately shaped lifting scoops and guide vanes and the material is cooled by the counter-current flow of incoming cold ambient air.

The MOZER® “SYSTEM TK plus”, which is used predominantly as dryers and cooler equipment combined for quartz sand, is a particularly energy-efficient dryer/cooler. In contrast to the SYSTEM TK the sand is not cooled with ambient air but by mixing in a proportion of moist sand with the warm dried sand after it has passed through the inner cylinder. The material is cooled by the evaporation of the water from the added moist material, while this added material is dried by the heat stored in the main bulk of dried material.
